Areas of interest

My main area of interest is in the field of Social Psychology. I am interested in social identities and in particular, feminist social identity. As well as this, I am interested in sexism and discrimination, objectification theory, and women’s life experiences.

I am a current member of the Society of Australasian Social Psychologists (SASP), the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI). and the Australian Women’s and Gender Studies Association (AWGSA).

I am also a member of the Successful Health for At-Risk Populations (SHARP) research team at Federation University.

Research skills

I am experienced in designing and conducting qualitative and quantitative research, as well as analysing data using SPSS, NVivo, and MPlus.

I am a previous recipient of Australian Postgraduate Award scholarship, awarded for exceptional research potential.

Experience

As a research assistant I have worked on a broad range of studies on topics including retirement, microaggressions, and police interrogation. My contributions on these studies include setting up and designing surveys, conducting data analysis, conducting literature reviews, and editing book chapters. For more detail see publications.

 

Current projects

Impact of self-objectification and safety anxiety on well-being

 

This research aims to explore the extent to which self-objectification negatively impacts on women’s feelings of wellness and satisfaction with life, as a result of an increased awareness of ones own safety.

 

Attitudes towards reusable menstrual products

 

This study is looking at predictors of attitudes towards reusable menstrual products (e.g., menstrual cup) including self-objectification and feminist identity.
